Groundwork Balm- Montana Made Bison Tallow
Offering a small seasonal batch of my Groundwork Bison Tallow Balm exclusively for Lu Dale. For the past few years I’ve been perfecting this healing balm, providing it to local farmers, family and friends. I’m excited to now offer it to more folks! My family owns and operates a wild game processing facility a few miles from the Lu Dale headquarters in Liivingston. During the processing season I work off my share of this wonderful bi-product so I can sustainably produce this healing, double-rendered tallow balm for you. I’m not pretentious enough to whip my balm, offering a simple concentrated formula, where a little goes a long way. The scent is light and grounding and not too much this, or too much that. Groundwork: ground′wûrk″. Noun. That which forms the foundation or support of anything; the basis; the essential or fundamental part.

I hope you enjoy all of the wonderful benefits that bison tallow has to offer, like so many before us.
Bison tallow is often considered superior to beef tallow due to its higher nutritional profile, including more vitamins and essential fatty acids, and its better compatibility with human skin.
Bison tallow is particularly well-suited for people with sensitive or reactive skin, those with inflammatory skin conditions, individuals seeking the most nutrient-dense natural skincare, consumers prioritizing cleaner, more sustainable products and anyone looking for superior absorption and skin feel.
Bison tallow offers a lighter, less greasy feel on the skin that absorbs more readily into deeper skin layers and melts at a temperature closer to human body temperature. It leaves the skin feeling nourished rather than coated.
Bison Tallow contains higher amounts of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acid, a more balanced omega-3 to omega-6 ratio, a greater concentration of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and optimal levels of stearic acid (a key fatty acid for skin barrier function) than beef tallow. It is also typically higher in vitamin A (essential for cell regeneration), has greater vitamin D content (supports skin immunity), more vitamin K2 (promotes skin healing) and enhanced vitamin E levels (provides antioxidant protection) than beef tallow. Bison Tallow is higher in selenium (supports antioxidant function), has a better zinc profile (aids in tissue repair) and is more diverse mineral content due to varied forage than beef tallow. Bison are almost exclusively raised on natural grasslands and are rarely administered antibiotics or growth hormones. Bison are generally not subjected to feedlot finishing and have naturally adapted to North American environments, resulting in lower stress levels due to more natural living conditions.
